WHAT IS IT: Digital Metaverse Real Estate EXPLAINED

Cryptocurrencies, self-driving cars, electric cars, glasses that take me to another dimension, someone saying metaverse and the world is like WHOAH, it’s moving FAST.

Technology is advancing, digital real estate is…..Wait… What? Come on…WOW.

Technology is moving fast but what is digital real estate? How is it connected to metaverse?

I am so confused.

Let’s clear things up. One idea at a time.

What is metaverse?

The metaverse is a hypothesized iteration of the Internet, supporting persistent online 3-D virtual environments through conventional personal computing, as well as virtual and augmented reality headsets. Aspects of the Metaverse have already been added in virtual world platforms such as Second Life.

That’s a quote from Wikipedia.

First of all the guy or people who wrote this, I mean, great stuff. Couldn’t have formulated every word in there better.

Second of all, that’s SUPER SCARY.

What is the world going to look like in a few years?

Is it going to be like the irobot movie, but with virtual gangs and people will believe themselves to DEATH? What is going on?

I am not sure, but okay.

A simple explanation of the metaverse…

Metaverse is a world you can create for yourself to be anything and do anything.

That’s done through your imagination and technology.

So I can understand, CORONA or COVID-19, Staying at home, working from home, virtual marketing, virtual selling, virtual life, and all of this is more real than your screen.

BUT what is metaverses digital real estate?

Just to understand this better, Justin Bieber performed a concert.

He performed a concert using virtual reality.

Fans watched a concert that was not taking up physical space (beyond your space at home or wherever).

What is digital real estate?

It’s actually not THAT complex…

If you have played games before, you have a character, you have a world that character is in, right?

This is almost like the same thing.

You are the character you make in this virtual world and in that virtual world, you can interact with other characters from the real world.

You can buy a store on a virtual street, land or anything else.

It’s growing so fast that as I am writing this, someone bought a virtual piece of land for about $2.5 million.

Who owns this virtual world & where I can buy digital real estate?

Facebook or Meta is probably going to be the leader of this game.

There are however different companies already creating their own world, where you would be able to buy real estate.

By their own worlds I mean their own (game).

OR virtual space.

It sounds confusing but think of a website as a virtual space.

People come to it and interact with it.

If you turned your website into a virtual center for ANYTHING, people could be paying you for “real estate” or “space” in your world.

Just like a videogame as was mentioned above.

Sort of like a store within amazon.

How does cryptocurrency come into play here? Is crypto exclusive to digital real estate?

Every owner of his world could decide what currency or way of charging to use.

Some use blockchain (connected to banks and the conventional way of money transactions today – even though that’s changing slowly).

Facebook uses blockchain and you could use NFTs (this is beyond this article).

Other virtual reality spaces could use other forms of payment.

Because this is so technologically advanced, and it’s unique, a lot of crypto lovers are connected to the idea and a lot of the virtual worlds will probably be crypto-based.
